Despite coming out on china’s local news, it was suppressed on social media and no news of the toxic products went out overseas even though miniso has overseas branches. I no longer see the nail polishes in my local branch (in malaysia) so they have probably been recalled but there was no public notice. What about people who bought it previously? The time miniso’s toxic children foodware was trending (even though it was discovered months ago), solo fans and CP fans were encouraged (and did) by big fan accounts to whitewash the tag on weibo by posting iirrelevant posts to the tag and attack other posts talking about the issue. This is a social health issue - should fans be doing that?
You seem to be a CP fan so some off-hand examples here on how fans were used to smear another person:
YB’s shoe candy: CP fans on weib* joked about how ‘obvious’ he was being and well, it was shoes from his shoe closet right? So ‘yb coming out of the closet’ started to trend. Cpfs panicked and started ‘washing’ the tag and on the same day, the tag ‘mysteriously’ became ‘xz coming out of the closet’. Cpf were then told by big CP accounts to leave that tag alone now to ‘put it to rest’.
22/7 how it started: there are so many cp fics (hundreds!) - why this one? Because big CP accounts started sharing that author’s weib* and also the fanart simultaneously. They praised it and framed it as a
'must read for all CP fans!'. Of course cpfs reposted and shared it. It caused solo fans to panic that will it trend hence why an effort was made to report the weib* post. Whats even more interesting, days before the incident, some big CP accounts were hinting that something big was going to happen(!!!!). Turtles were told to stay out of it when it happens and let solos handle because turtles might ‘make things worse’. So the fandom this fic is from was told to stay silent when in the early hours, they most likely have the biggest say?
Its not so bad on international platforms since c-ent content (and endorsements) is still more or less available and profitable only on the mainland but they are already laying foundations towards exporting c-ent (many major entertainment channels like hunan and tencent have YouTube accounts with full episodes now). These methods are likely going to be exported as well.
If you truly love both of them, then hopefully this information can let you be more discerning in picking up underhanded PR techniques when interacting with the fandom such that you don’t end up harming people you claim to love.

DeleteIndeed I am cpf but I don’t really care about fake candies and stories that people created in order for people to Fantasy about because when I did my own research, it was stupid and too delusional but ofc I do believe they are real and seems special to each other.
Because I used to follow those big account who posted fake stories and such, I actually believe them at first bc I was blind by it but now that I get to know themselves as individuals, it’s totally different from cpf stuff. So that sent me off a little as cpf and I don’t know where I stand. I know some of the stuff u mention like Yibo coming out trending and the fans trying to stop and even he mention called us out by saying @ your imagination is beyond my imagination “ but every shipper use that as excuse to youku. That’s when I know we are reading too much into stuff they do.I mentioned that they could be real , this is because one important detail that I know but it seems like no one else noticed it and I actually do want to talk to people about it but it’s secret, anyway this information is real and with prove.
To be honest speaking, I have came upon on many accounts like this and I wondered why u guys hate cp and the fans but only talk about how bad wang Yibo is, I mean when I start doing my research. Cp fans do things between two of them but none of u guys seems to hate or talk bad about Xiao zhan( not that I wish bc he don’t deserve it) I’m genuinely just curious as to why. To ans your last qns, as a former cp fan, I felt cheated. Its like buying a makeup palette from a brand that claims they r cruelty-free only to find out they r selling their products in chn (cosmetics must have animal testing to be sold there). Not only did the brand lied, but they made me betray my own principles abt protecting animals.

If they are willing to sell candy n cpfs are happy to buy the candy then its just good fun, everybody win win. But the candies should at least be consensual since its a ‘couple’. Then yb went on both GQ & T magazine, both that shaded xz during 22/7. His nik* quote ‘let the trend be worthy of positive energy’ the same time 227ers were attacking xz for being a trend idol of negative energy? How… how is that not a dig?
Then spotlight came out n sales were through the roof, suddenly, the obvious candies from yb started again (they paused during 22/7). So they r benefiting from his presence in a cp but yet couldn't speak up for him? This isn't a partnership, they r just exploiting him.
As I dig deeper & find out more about yb, it seems like everything I find cool abt him was fake. Like his motorcycling. A young legit pro-racer, n as he himself said, he competed in ARRC last year. Idk much abt racing but ARRC is all of asia right? Thats incredible. Only now I know it was actually ZIC. Its a difference of a local and a regional competition. So either he knowingly lied or he didnt know what he signed up for meaning his ‘passion’ for motorcycling is fake.
Hence, at least for myself, I find yb just makes it so easy to make fun of him because who doesn’t like to expose liars? How they even have the cheek to introduce him as a host when he messes up the most basic words like writing the pronoun ‘it’ instead of ‘him’? This is elementary education omg. Calling him a host, even once, when people actually work hard to get language proficiency accreditation for this title, is an insult to the profession.
I went to look up xz’s dirt too, just to be fair (its not difficult, he got so many antis lol). Other than a few dirty jokes he made with mutuals when he wasn’t a celeb n unglam shots, everything else was baseless rumours. His antis accused him of stealing from other artists, fake donations, being a hk supporter, etc but none could actually give any concrete evidence. So unlike yb who even exposes his own lies himself (on TV he said rossi was 50 when he was only 40 - this from a person who claims to be rossi’s hardcore fan?), xz doesnt give that much material to make fun of him tbh.
