Mr. Xu ordered a box of snacks on the official app of Lyfen on August 23, including two boxes of tiger skin cakes, each in a small package.

After receiving the snacks, Mr. Xu opened a box of tiger skin cake to eat, but found that there were a lot of mold on the cake. He then saw two other moldy pieces in that package.


Was it because him buying expired food? After checking the production date, Mr. Xu found that the cake had not expired. The production date of the cake was August 9th, and the shelf life was 120 days. However, the cakes were already moldy when he ate them on September 10th.

Mr. Xu immediately contacted the customer service to report this quality problem. Although the customer service soon expressed their willingness to pay 1 000 yuan, they also made two requirements: first, he must send the moldy food back to the manufacturer and sign a settlement letter; after receiving the compensation money, Mr. Xu was asked to give up all the rights to pursue this matter.



Mr. Xu told the Knews reporter that as a consumer, in addition to a compensation, he also hopes to get the business's attention to quality issues. Mr. Xu said that during his communication with the customer service, Lyfen did not apologize sincerely, nor did they explain the specific cause of the mold.

After receiving the news, the reporter from Knews came to the headquarters of Lyfen. The other party explained that after receiving the complaint, in order to confirm the condition of the moldy cake, they hoped that the consumer would send the product back first, but was rejected by Mr. Xu, that's why they did the letter of settlement solution.

The director of the Lyfen National Sales and Service Center said that Mr. Xu’s chance of encountering this situation is one in a million.

After looking at this news from Knews reporter, Songjiang District's Market Supervision Department has stepped in this matter. They said that although there is no clear provision, in order to avoid disputes caused by unreasonable terms, it is not recommended for consumers and businesses to adopt such an agreement.

Before the publication of this news, the person in charge of Public Relations at Yifen called Fangji and said that they would take samples of the same batch of products bought by Ms. Jiang to open the bag for testing.
